2024 Clatsop County Police Citizen's Academy

Applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Clatsop County Police Citizen's Academy. The academy will run from April 22nd to June 17th. Classes will be held at the various law enforcement facilities in Clatsop County and will cover crime scenes, criminal investigations, Tasers, firearms, jails, prosecuting cases, and many other topics. The classes are all instructed by members from all of the public safety agencies.

WPD to host Drug Take-Back Event

***DRUG TAKE-BACK EVENT***

The WPD will be participating in the National Drug Take-Back Initiative with the DEA:

  • this Saturday, April 30th
  • 10am to 2pm
  • Warrenton Police Station (225 S. Main Ave.)
  • Drive-thru, curbside Drop-Off by the 2nd Street entrance

We will accept all prescription meds, over-the-counter meds, vitamins, liquids, patches, and sharps. We have a limited supply of FREE medication lock-boxes we will be giving away (until they are gone).

Police Investigate a Stabbing at Walgreens

Warrenton, OR – On Saturday, November 20, 2021, around 7:51pm the Warrenton Police Department was dispatched to the parking lot of Walgreen’s (1625 E. Harbor Dr.) for a stabbing. It was reported that an employee had been stabbed while in the parking lot and the suspect fled the area on foot. WPD officers arrived and while one attended to the victim the other officer began searching the area. Officers from the Astoria Police Department and Deputies from the Clatsop County Sheriffs Office also arrived in the area and assisted in looking for the suspect.

Wanted Warrenton Fugitive Arrested by US Marshals Service

On 04/28/2021 Sidney Crawford was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for Attempted Murder by the United States Marshals Service.

Crawford was originally arrested on February 25, 2021 by Warrenton Police Officers after he was reported to have poured gasoline on another person and threatened to light them both on fire. On that date Crawford was arrested on charges of Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Menacing and lodged at the Clatsop County Jail. The case was referred to the Clatsop County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Officer Assaulted and Injured by a DUII Crash Suspect

City of Warrenton Dog Control Ordinance Updated

***Dog Control Ordinance Update***

The Warrenton Dog Control Ordinance was amended by the Warrenton Commission on November 10th and it goes into effect today. Please see the attached press release and copy of Ordinance 1245 for more details.

Warrenton still does not have a city-wide leash law but leashes are now required on all of the Warrenton Trail System and in Warrenton City Parks (with a few exceptions).

DEA Drug Take Back Event at WPD

The WPD will be participating in the DEA's Biannual Drug Take Back Initiative. The April event was canceled so the only event this year will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 10am to 2pm at the 2nd Street entrance to the Police Station.

This year the DEA is also taking back E-Cigarette & Vape Devices with the batteries removed.
