WPD will Host a Drug Take-Back Event on April 24th

***DRUG TAKE-BACK EVENT***

The WPD will be participating in the National Drug Take-Back Initiative with the DEA:

  • this Saturday, April 24th
  • 10am to 2pm
  • Warrenton Police Station (225 S. Main Ave.)
  • Drive-thru, curbside Drop-Off by the 2nd Street entrance

We will accept all prescription meds, over-the-counter meds, vitamins, liquids, patches, and sharps. We have a limited supply of FREE medication lock-boxes we will be giving away (until they are gone).

City of Warrenton Dog Control Ordinance Updated

***Dog Control Ordinance Update***

The Warrenton Dog Control Ordinance was amended by the Warrenton Commission on November 10th and it goes into effect today. Please see the attached press release and copy of Ordinance 1245 for more details.

Warrenton still does not have a city-wide leash law but leashes are now required on all of the Warrenton Trail System and in Warrenton City Parks (with a few exceptions).

DEA Drug Take Back Event at WPD

The WPD will be participating in the DEA's Biannual Drug Take Back Initiative. The April event was canceled so the only event this year will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 10am to 2pm at the 2nd Street entrance to the Police Station.

This year the DEA is also taking back E-Cigarette & Vape Devices with the batteries removed.

Vehicle Pursuit from Walmart to the Round-About

Warrenton, OR – On October 1, 2020 at 5:03pm Warrenton Police Officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a Theft in progress inside the store where a male suspect was in the men’s apparel and possibly had a razor knife. Shortly after the call, Ofc. Robert Wirt and Ofc. Madyson Hanna arrived in their patrol vehicles to find the male suspect speeding from the area in a black 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. Officers pursued the Jetta northbound on Highway 101 towards Astoria at speeds between 50 and 63 mph.

WPD Safety Blitz #3 Enforcement

Warrenton, OR – The Warrenton Police Department will be joining with the other law enforcement agencies in Clatsop County and around the State of Oregon to participate in the 3rd Safety Belt Blitz Monday, August 24, 2020 through Sunday, September 6, 2020. During this timeframe WPD officers will use grant-funded OT hours as well as straight-time enforcement hours to provide enhanced patrols looking for all traffic violation with an emphasis on:

Warrenton Police Launch New Online Reporting Form for Starting a Police Report

Warrenton, OR – The Warrenton Police Department is launching a new Online Reporting Form where certain incidents and crimes can be started online and later completed by an officer. The new online form fits well with all of the current social distancing measures and alternative reporting methods being used around the State and Nation. But this reporting method is something the WPD has been wanting to do for some time now.

The Warrenton Police Department has created this Online Incident Reporting Worksheet to allow someone to start simple incident reports to later be contacted by a member of the WPD. Once you are recontacted we will complete the report and give you an Incident Case Number.

WPD Joins Oregon's Car Care Program

Warrenton, OR – The Warrenton Police Department has become a participant in Oregon’s Car Care Program. The program originally started with the Oregon State Police (OSP) who have since expanded the program to include the Oregon Association Chief’s of Police (OACP) and the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association (OSSA) to provide City Police Officers, County Sheriff’s Deputies, and State Police Troopers the ability to issue an “Oregon Car Care Voucher” that provides a discount on automotive parts purchased at participating auto parts stores (some restrictions will apply).
