ROAD CLOSURE - EMERGENCY CULVERT REPLACEMENT (SE 2nd, 1200 Block)

SE 2nd Closure

Public Works crews have been attempting to clear the culvert that crosses under SE 2nd St – west side of SE Marlin Ave.  We have spent many work hours and have determined the culvert to have failed.  This culvert is not allowing the storm water to flow from the south side of SE 2nd St, causing the ditch along SE Marlin Ave to flood.  This culvert needs to be replaced prior to the next rain event.

We have called in a contractor (Big River Construction) to replace the culvert.  The work will be completed on Friday and potentially into Saturday.  Today, the contractor will be setting up a pump system to drain the storm water in the ditch along SE Marlin Ave to dewater the area of work. 

SE 2nd St will be closed to all traffic at the west side of SE Marlin Ave starting this afternoon.  Public Works will be placing road barricades and signs.
