General description
The City of Warrenton is now hiring Seasonal Summer Help for our Public Works Department - a perfect opportunity to earn $17/hour while working outdoors, staying active, and supporting your community!
This temporary position runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day and is vital in keeping Warrenton clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors alike. If you enjoy hands-on work, being outside, and having a variety of tasks each day, this might be the job for you!
Position Details:
- 40 hours per week, including weekends and some holidays
- Pay: $17.00 per hour (no benefits)
- Location: City of Warrenton - Public Works
Final candidates must pass a drug screen and medical exam
Mandatory Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Desirable Qualifications: Class 1 Distribution certificate. Commercial Driver’s license
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Cleaning and maintaining public restrooms (sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, restocking)
- Emptying public trash cans and picking up litter at parks, beaches, and public spaces
- Power washing sidewalks and boardwalk areas
- Mowing, watering, trimming, and weeding in public parks
- Painting city buildings, doors, and trim as needed
- Operating city vehicles and using a variety of tools and equipment
- Assisting with tasks in other public works divisions as needed

Physical Demand and working conditions:
Strenuous physical work is required which may involve lifting heavy objects,
bending twisting, handling chlorine and other hazardous chemicals, working above the
ground/in trenches or in confined spaces or on irregular surfaces, usually out of
doors in conditions that may be wet and cold or otherwise unpleasant working
conditions; occasional call out after regular working hours.
This physically active job requires lifting, walking, bending, and working in various weather conditions. Training and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided to ensure your safety on the job.
