PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 18, 2020
A message from your Public Works Department:
Toilet paper may be scarce these days which leaves us turning to substitute products, but don’t be tempted to flush those wipes, paper towels, or napkins. They’re likely to clog your sewer pipes and ours, creating a yucky and expensive mess. While toilet paper breaks apart in water, paper towels are generally made to stay put and can cause backups. Wipes, even the ones coined “flushable” have actually caused backups, too. A sewage backup can cause a public health hazard. Place a wastebasket in the bathroom to dispose of these items and avoid sewage backups.
For questions or concerns regarding sanitary sewer, please contact Public Works at 503-861-0912 or at publicworks@ci.warrenton.or.us.
